In striving to achieve greatness I feel my definition of greatness is reliant in making Mommy and Wellness symbiotic. This will be my constant challenge through this transition. Until my birdies take flight I will be working hard to make sure my mommy status and my desire for wellness rely on each other to survive. I see it as building in a fail safe. If I teach my kids to be more active it will directly affect my activity as well. Let me outline a couple my recent attempts and a couple ideas I want to try…
Being outdoors when the weather permits is optimal for me and my family. We have (grandparents and non-walker included) gone to the park and set up bases. Since my kids are little we adults did most of pitching and batting but when it was kids turn it was an automatic home run! Allowing the little steppers to run run run. Letting this fit your family. I see myself increasing the distance between bases as the little legs get longer and longer.
Talk about a work out. I discovered a few benefits to canoeing. Nature can be relaxing for the mind. and that seems to help when you are using your core muscles and upper body to oar along. The tot rider got a little antsy at times but perhaps a look and find sheet of some sort could help next time. As my kids get older it will be beneficial to teach the skills that go into this activity. While we like a little cartoon action with breakfast at times having the ability for be self sufficient is important to us.
Life jackets can be very calming for Moms and it most cases are required by law. Just wanted to be sure that was in here! We wear them!!
I still have a couple of activities that I would like to try.
Exercising a kids imagination is just as important to me as physical activity for them. The black ball focuses on emotions and the green is getting to know you points. I’m not sure if this will serve better as a relaxation activity or a run around activity but either way I see grass under my feet.
I am super excited to try this with my kiddo. While I will likely be the only one tall enough to do the hard work I think that this could be a fun activity. I see these a lot of places and the rental fees are usually low in cost.
How is all this symbiotic? As a mother I want my kids to be healthy and be given the opportunities that they need to be self-sufficient if necessary. I want them to do well making friends and having relationships but have the confidence within themselves to do and get done.
Doing requires motion. If I spend more time doing in motion than I do hoping in stillness I feel that this will naturally keep me and my family in motion. It’s my hope we all will crave fun activities instead of shows and snacks. Mommy desires fueling Wellness needs becoming Mommy desires….or something like that.
